A move to comply with Quebec’s language laws is causing controversy one month before voters head to the polls.

For the first time in a Quebec general election, all eligible voters will received election information by mail in French only. Elections Quebec says the change is required under the province’s language laws but English information will still be available if voters take the necessary steps to access it. Some anglophone advocacy groups and constitutional experts say the change could create a significant barrier to voting.
