The Bridge’s Nantali Indongo interviews Clint Ward, 30for30 recipient

News

Hudson arts leader, Clint Ward, says “stay busy or you die”. At 93, he’s not stopping

Twenty years ago, Clint Ward co-founded the Hudson Film Society. And for the last decade thanks to a collaboration with Toronto International Film Festival, he’s at the helm of the Hudson Film Festival. He says he’s always loved films. But he also developed a love for theatre, a past-time when off work from flying commercial planes. So in retirement, he started writing plays; the second of his trilogy about women pilots in WWII focuses on the Russian women who were known as ‘Night Witches’. A Saskatoon Sports Hall of Famer, Clint is a TALQ 30for30 Laureate for 2025. And the 93-year old credits playing trombone and growing up in moments of serious austerity in the flatlands of Canada for shaping his appreciation for arts and culture. This hour-long interview is both informative and interesting.
